Woodbury United is excited to announce the third season of a girls U8 program. The U8 program is open to girls born between 9/1/11 – 8/31/13. The 8-week, program which will start in May. Specific practice times and location will be announced at a later date. There are potentially two jamboree weekends through MS Lax, dates and weekends TBD.
The Woodbury United Lacrosse Girls Program uses the US Lacrosse Athlete Development Model (ADM) to guide our player development. The U8 program will follow the ADM for “discovery level” players by providing the opportunity to develop basic movement skills like running, jumping, landing, kicking, scooping, throwing and catching in a fun setting, built around informal play and positive reinforcement.
Payment registration will be accepted electronically by credit/debit card only.
There will be a new uniform design this year, so the registration fee includes the cost of ordering new uniforms.
If trying lacrosse for the first time there is an option to rent or purchase equipment at East Side Lacrosse in Woodbury. www.eslacrosse.com
It's the goal of "WULAX" to place every registered player on a team. In the event the numbers are such that your daughter isn't placed on a team, a full refund will be given. Additionally, our registration does allow for a certain percentage of "non-resident" kids to play, meaning kids that are not residents of the City of Woodbury, or do not attend a District #833 school. With that said, the first criteria considered when forming teams in giving priority to "residents".
Each family new to Woodbury United Lacrosse is required to attend the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) class offered in April. Details will be communicated once available. Families that attended last year have fulfilled this requirement.
During the registration you will be asked a number of questions including:
1. Name, gender, and age of each player you are registering
2. Parent/guardian and emergency contact information
3. Player's medical history/issues
4. Player's US Lacrosse membership number (see note below)
There will be new uniforms (jersey and shorts) this year as part of your registration. "WULAX" will hold multiple sizing events in January and February. Dates, locations and times will be communicated once set.
Medical and Insurance
Please make sure to be very clear in the Medical Information section about any medical issues that could potentially affect your player's wellbeing.
US Lacrosse partners with Bollinger Insurance to provide Woodbury United Association Members (Coaches, Members, Players) liability coverage as required by city and state mandates.
Family Volunteer Commitment
The Black & Blue Tournament is critical to the program and is the only fund-raising event of the season and we need all the help we can get.
Each family who registers a boy or girl to play lacrosse will be scheduled for four (4) hours of time to work at the Woodbury Black and Blue Lacrosse Tournament July 10-12, 2020. For each additional child in the tournament, one additional hour of work will be added up to a maximum of six (6) hours.
You may choose to opt out of these volunteer duties by paying an additional $300 with your registration. The fee will be used to help find and pay for hiring outside workers to take your place.
If you do not opt-out during registration but then fail to work at the tournament, you will be billed for the $300 volunteer fee and/or your child will be removed from the program and will not be allowed to play in the tournament.
Tournament volunteer opportunities exist throughout the weekend and will be listed on our DIBS page in early July.
DIBS opportunities completed by you will satisfy your 4-hour minimum requirement. Roles include: Time/Score Tables, Equipment Set-up/Tear-down, Food Sales, Concession Sales, and more.
Registering More Than One Player:
If you are registering more than one player, you will be asked if you would like to register another right before the checkout page - keep any eye out for the message and you'll save yourself a few minutes.
Cancellation / Refund Policy:
For Summer Field Lacrosse registrations (i.e. joining a WULax team): A full refund will be given up to the point when teams have been formed. After teams have been formed and posted no refunds will be given.
If a player has an injury prior to the start of the league season (season starts with the first practice after team formation), and a medical note from a registered physician is provided, a full refund will be given. There are no refunds for injuries occurring after the start of the league season.
WULax reserves the right to cancel a league season due to lack of numbers. In such a case, a full refund will be given.
